Intellytech Fresnel LEDs

Anyone use any of their lights? I'm interested in their fresnels specifically. From what I've read, folks like them, but the quantity of reviews is pretty small.

TIA,
Grant

I've always struggled to get past the silly sounding name "Intellytech".

But then again, I forgave that one company for misspelling aperture and bought their lights.

I've got one of the Light Cannons from Intellytech. It's the smaller one, but is still a BIG unit. I've been happy with the light output, color rendition and fresnel attributes so far.

I am interested in the 165 which is probably the model you mention. How is the build quality compared to an Arri Fresnel? At 165 watts, it should be fairly bright, in output, how would it compare to a 1000w tungsten?

Edit: How noisy is the fan?

Hey FrameFarmMedia,

Thanks for chiming in, I had hoped you would see this thread.

Could you give your overall impressions of the build quality of the fixture and the company.

TIA,
Grant

The build quality is cheap and its heavy. I haven't had any issues with its durability but I also am not tossing it around. That said it puts out a lot of light and I have used it with an octobox as a key and use it a lot when shooting rooms for a design client. Its nice to have some power on tap in a somewhat familiar fresnel form factor.

Grant: fan noise is virtually negligible. You have to put your ear right next to the unit to even hear if it's on. However; without the fan engaged, the output of the fresnel is automatically cut in half. Build seems fine...but it's not a tank like an ARRI fixture.

I will say that I am using Intellytech's flexible LED panels a bunch. Power hook ups are a bit fiddly, but really liking the light output and the feather weight.
