Hi,
I am about to buy a laptop for video editing.
I would like the laptop to be able editing HDV/H.D video.
My choice would be the "Dell inspiron 9300" with 1024 ram and a 256 mb graphic card.
My concern is regarding its processor.Any body with some experience of how good is the Pentium M processor for H.D video editing?

Thanks!

Johnnie

The machine specs look good, BUT you're not going anywhere with HD content or even SD (I.M.O) with that 5.400 rpm disk notebooks tend to have.
So it looks like you're gonna have to go with a lacie or even better a G-RAID external unit which utilizes RAID-0 on two identical drives (Videoguys have it at $165.00 160gb), it supports FW 400 and USBII with a little more $ you get FW800 (Very good for Macs).

I hope this helps

Jazzx,thanks for the reply.

The system disk will be 7200 rpm, and indeed my intention is to edit on an external firewire lacie disk.
As I wrote in my original thread,my concern is the Pentium M.

Thanks,Johnnie
