I want to install a sofware on Win Vista, but I get the follownig error: my InstallScript isscript.msi is too old, and I cannot install the software. I have updated it to version 11, but I still get this message. How could I install this program?
1. Check out the app vendor's site for info.
2. MSI install packages in general will work on Vista. The fact that there is a specific error message indicating that the msi package is old is not a good sign. Is there a new version of the the app?
Alternatively, you can run Virtual PC or Virtual Server on Vista and run XP and the app in a virtual session if critical.
Search your boot drive for that isscript.msi and rename any of them already there to Xisscript.msi or something. Then try to install whatever you're installing. If it works, un-rename them after you're done.
If it doesn't help, go back and un-rename them so it doesn't screw up any other installs. (That's why I said rename and not delete. )
