Insurance...

Its a topic that people seem to be afraid to talk about but it something every filmmaker should be familiar with. I have done a little research to get people started. I found a couple of good websites of companies that sell the stuff but also have a great wealth of information. I encourage all filmmakers reading this to check it out. If you are going to shoot any kind of film in the future you will need insurance to do so. When not educate yourself now?

Hi, just wondering if you have your own equipment, would liability and workers comp insurance be sufficient? I know there is insurance for equipment damage and lost data, etc. But I am trying to figure out what the key pieces of insurance are. Thanks.

If your film is going to get distribution you might be required to obtain Errors and Omissions insurance before a distributor will pick it up.

I have a recording studio, and the insurance we have was a pretty big thing for me (a big commitment; I guess it's not too expensive for what we get, though).

I can't imagine what insurance on a production must cost-- Liability, equipment, worker's comp, let alone finding someone outside of Hollyrock to underwrite the project.

Hi Chris S.-- I'm in Buffalo, too. Do you know my friend Emil?
