"Insufficient content for edit" with stills

I'm editing a music video that has a LOT of stills edited together in 2-10 frame bursts. I've made all my edits already using a slug, so now have dozens and dozens of little slices of slug, ready to be replaced with the actual stills. But, when I open the stills in the viewer and try to do a Replace Edit, I get the error "Insufficient content for edit", even though the stills have all been imported with durations longer than the slug segments or even the slug as a whole. I used this same technique on another project months ago and it worked fine. I can't figure out what's different.

There's no in or out points on the timeline, and I've tried moving it to different layers, turning on and off the autoselect switch... I don't know what's up.

"Insufficient content for edit" usually means you have an in or an out selected on the timeline of the clip viewer or the sequence and don't know it. Try clicking in the clip Viewer window, hit option-x, then click in the sequence timeline window, hit option-x, then click on the slug clip to be replaced and hit (just the) 'x' key, then click in the clip Viewer window and hit 'x' followed by F11 (replace) key.

Replace expects the original clip in the Sequence and the clip you're replacing it with to be the same length overall. In other words, you'd have to make your slugs the same length as the original photos, and then use in and out points to place them into the Timeline.

You want to do three point edits.

Personally, I'd have just done the edit with the original photos to start with. I understand what you're doing, but it's not the most efficient workflow.
