Instructor/Guest Lecturer Advice

Sad Max

Artful Dodger
So my alma mater and a school I attended in Michigan have each invited me to come teach - either for a semester, a summer program, or a short 3-5 day workshop (basically depending upon my schedule and how much time I can reasonably give them).

Anyone have experience doing this sort of thing? What questions should I be asking? What sort of honorarium should I expect?

...anything like that.

A building (pref not a restroom) named in your honor, easy access to the co-ed dorms, an oh, a honorary doctorate, so we have to call you Dr. Sad Max.

But seriously, that's a great honor. Congrats. Nice to see another DVX'er get recognition for their hard work.

my first and only demand would be that they name a sandwich after me in the school cafeteria. the sandwich must include roast beef as one of the meats.

from there i'd start asking them relevant questions. i'd ask them how much money i'd be getting paid for each of the three options.

then i would find out about grading requirements.

i would want to know if i'd be given my own office. being as i frequently work in the nude, i'd need to make sure the door locks.

will i be provided a butler or maid?

can i ride around campus in a golf cart?

instead of a desk, could i bring an inflatable raft?

and finally, do they allow pets?

schools usually have established adjunct rates depending on the duration. but, be sure and get access to the school web, e-mail, etc., and an office if you'll be there for any time, so you'll have aplce to meet with students.
