Anybody used red Giant's Instant HD plugin for fcp?

What is your opinion?

Pros and cons?

Any footage to share?

Thnx

I have FCP HD 5.1, and for some reason I can't get it to install. I believe it's because of the version of final cut I have. I have been asking questions myself with very few follow ups. From the feed back that I did acquire, I was told that it is a good program if you only use the minimal settings. You can zoom in using reasonable values, but nothing extreme. Using reasonable values youll be able to get sharper, yet smoother results than just cropping with you host program (FCP).

Hope that helps.

I used it to create anamorphic SD out of 4:3 SD footage. It looked much better than doing a straight blowup in FCP. I've played around with going up to 720p as well, and while it doesn't look like true HD footage, it looks better on my Cinema Display (currently the only HD monitor I have) than setting the SD file to fill the screen. Red Giant claims that if you go up to high res then use that file to make your SD DVD files, it will look better than going straight from SD. I can't speak to that as I haven't had time to test it out.

Hope this helps. Oh, and I'm using FCP 5.1.x on PPC. I don't think they've got their plug-in Intel compatable yet.

Thanks, I found out that my intel hardware is not compatable with the Instant hd program. Let me know if you hear anything about upgrades for this.

Thanx....
