Instant HD WorkFlow

I've done research on this board and on the internet in attempt to find a useable workflow for uprezzing my dv footage using Instant HD.

I have followed the instructions in the user manual to a "T" and the uprezzed footage does not look any better than the source footage.

Searching on this board, I have not found any before and after footage of this program. I am very good at following instructions so my question is:

Can someone, who has had success with this progam, take a little time and explain, in detail, the process of uprezzing dv footage using Instant HD?

I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

I too am interested in this program and have found no examples.

Jofes6 when you uprezsed your footage did it make it the right size for your HD project?

If so it may be that is all you can hope for. Not that it will make it better when you resize it but that it will not make it worse when you resize it.

That's what I am beginning to understand. I did not use it to uprez footage to fit with an HD project. I used it just to uprez 24p to make it sharper but the only difference I can see is if I scale both images by 400% and in the HD clip, the pixels are a little more rounded off. Looking at it at 100%, I cannot see a difference. I have not to use it to convert it to 16:9. I'd like to play around with that also, and maybe get some use out of this program.

Peace

First to the original post. Basically you do all your editing cuts in the SD format. Everything you would normally do say before an output.

Second you export your timeline as the finished clip.

Third you create a new project in the size that you want the finished to be e.g. 720 or 1080.

Fourth, you apply the instand HD filter to the clip, matching the sequence settings.

Thats right. But a I said, do all your editing in SD then the final output before the upres process. Spidey I dont think its good enough for 1080. Struggles for 720. Does a great job on a cropped 4:3 image that is bing upressed to 16:9 SD.

Can you uprez SD 4:3 (2:40:1 crop) to 2:40:1 (scope/widescreen)? And if you put it in 720p, will the footage look better or will it get distorted... Will you start seein lines and stuff like that?

redgiantsoftware and no no avid only after effects and final cut

I have instant HD, but can't get it to work with FCP HD 5.1. It gives me a weird messege basically stating that my version of final cut doesn't require it.

Weird!! Any suggestions anyone.
