A lot of less expensive gear, like those offerings from Gini and the likes, don't feature clamping mechanisms with "ratcheting" knobs, where you can pull out the knob to rotate it without actually tightening the screw.
Has anyone had any success with replacing those non-ratcheting knobs with ones that do ratchet? I feel like this would really contribute to the usability of cheaper support gear. Any resources on doing this?
