installing New Blue video fx for Windows 7

I've previously installed New Blue's free Cartoonr plug-in from http://www.newbluefx.com/videofx.html and installed it (using default directories and options) without problems for Vegas 9 on my old XP machine.

But after doing the same (accepting default directories and options for Vegas, then again for Vegas 64) on my windows 7 64 bit machine , Vegas 9 (32 or 64 bit version) can't see the plug-in. Am I supposed to do something from within the Vegas plug-in manager? As there is an explicit Vegas 64 option during installation, I presume this isn't simply a 64 bit compatibility issue...

(Hmm, just realised I can't see the Magic Bullet free plug-ins either, which I believe came with the Vegas 9 install - or do they not work in windows 7 64 bit? Or is there some special trick required for any 3rd party plug-ins in Windows 7?)

I downloaded the newbluefx demo-the film effects thing, and I have windows 7 and a 64 bit computer. They will be in Vegas under the video effects menu/list thing, just scroll down the effects until you see them. This is by project media, media generators etc.

I believe Magic Bullet will only work on a 32 bit version of Vegas, I tried the same thing with my 64 bit version of Vegas and couldn't see them.

Newbluefx is pretty cool , I like the film effects they give. Trouble is you see NEWBLUEFX across your screen the whole time when you download the demo.

Thanks, Londude. Hmm, it apparently is an issue with the 64 bit version of Vegas, I tried again and confirmed Cartoonr does work with Vegas 32 bit (running on my Windows 7 system, just as it did on my XP system) - just not with the 64 bit version of Vegas on windows 7. Which is very strange as Cartoonr explicitly has a 'Sony Vegas 64 bit' instal option - Imean, what else could it be for???

Grumble grumble, I can see i'm going to have to stick with the 32 bit version of Vegas for some projects...

On the other hand, Cartoonr is free, so I really can't complain...

Yeh I'm not sure/ Vegas 64 bit always crashed for me so I've uninstalled it and gonig to install the 32 bit which is compatible with magic bullet etc. Best to stick with Vegas 32 bit I reckon, more options available.

Update just in case anyone else is having this same problem: by chance, I later reinstalled New Blue's Sampler Pack (which worked fine), and then Cartoonr mysteriously appeared on my FX list as well! (And no, it's not also part of the Sampler pack.) So all's well that ends well, but I still don't know what happened...

Sweet so its all working fine now? You got Vegas 64 or 32 bit? What you reckon to the film effects? I like sci-fi.

I'm now running both 64 and 32 Bit versions of Vegas (on my 64 bit machine).

I rather like New Blue's Sampler Pack - so far my favourite is the 'active camera' which gives a fake handheld look. As I do mostly animation and so am limited to locked off cameras, it's nice to get a bit of organic camera movement.

Hey thats cool. My 64 bit version kept crashing, over and over, whenever I would drag a newblue fx into the timeline (and any other fx including the vegas ones). Since I got 32 bit version I havnt had the same problems. Plus, I cant get Curse of Monkey Island to work on the 64 bit PC :( LOL

Oh so you've only got a demo pack?
