installing from DVD without DVD drive, copy to flash drive?

If I need to install software from a DVD on an iMac without a disc drive, can I copy the DVD contents from the DVD onto a flash drive and install from there?
(Adobe CS6 Mac)

I don't know for sure, but it's most likely that the DVD won't allow you to copy the contents onto another device.

If it does, it still may ask for the DVD during the installation process (will most likely use some hidden files on the disc).

This is just a guess as I feel like it's been a decade since I installed anything from a disc, but I'm assuming they wouldn't let people copy/share the software so easily.

I would just buy an optical drive...so cheap:

Simple solution, available from MANY places:

I would buy a Bluray burner, something that can take the 100GB disks, then you can use it to back up "stuff"

The other answer is, it depends if you can copy it. Some of Adobe's stuff can be simply copied and installed. But the Windows version of CS6 complains and won't go because it is searching for DISK 1. This applies even when I logged into my account and downloaded the ISO and burned it. Ended up having to buy the disks from our reseller for like $20 (in addition to the licenses). Was a real hassle. Now that also said, there are Adobe tools that can package the install, this will give you something you can push out in an automated way. Can't tell you much more because I don't use them, but I know they are out there.

You should be able to make a disk image and put it on the flash drive. When you open the flash drive DMG, it will appear on your desktop as a CD. Ignore the part about making a new CD. Just put the DMG file on your flash drive--
