Installing FCP on separate partition?

Hey Guys

for some reason, I thought it was possible to install FCP on a hard drive separate from the system OS drive, but I found out otherwise when I tried to do it. Do you guys just have one single volume on the system OS drive that has everything installed on it? or is it possible to create separate volumes or partitions on which to install FCP? I was just thinking of giving FCP as much room and freedom as possible to do it's thing without interference from other tasks.

thanks

Re: Installing FCP on separate partition?

FCP does just fine running on the same drive as your system. The biggest thing you can do to make sure FCP will run good, is to have more and more RAM. This is where FCP does all of its work. Not so much on the hard drive, besides capturing and saving render files. And for one thing, the actual program file never grows in size. What does help is to have a seperate drive for all of your capture and render files.
