Insert text into clip?

Im working on a video clip from a bands recent show and need to insert some text into the clip, kinda like what you see in a music video, it will need to be at the beginning and at the end. I have tried doing the transparent text but it doesnt seem to work, what am i doing wrong?

Use a seperate track

im trying to insert text into the video so that you can see the video and the text at the same time. I have chosen transparent text but its just the text and a purple background even when i lay it over the video track

Ohhhh

Use Default; not transperent. The transperent text is making the text transperent.

alright got it working now, had to insert a video track and the default text thing worked...thanks
