Insectula!!

After over three years I'm at the post production stage of Insectula!, and I'd like to thank all the users at DVXuser for their awesome help! It's been a long process due to shortage of funds, health problems, time management, negotiations with sales agents, etc.

Whenever I had issues or questions I would jump on this board and get the answers. I found our composer from this forum. It was and is a fantastic resource that made the film much easier! We had professional third-party projections done and if they are anywhere close we are going to have a nice sized audience.

It was shot with a Canon 7D and 60D. I did all the visual effects and learned as I went.

I am looking for some outside help though at this point. Please take a peek at our Indiegogo campaign and if you can't give, please share it with someone you think might be interested. Click on the image or go to http://igg.me/at/insectula

Thanks!!

This looks like it could be a lot of fun. I love the poster, and the effects are pretty decent for doing them yourself.

My question is, what is your end goal here? Are you going to try and find a distributor? Go straight to Netflix? Try and sell to someone like SyFy (though i'm not sure they would take this level of gore)?

"...and then I had a heart attack, which put a kink in our finances." Sorry your dry delivery of that made me laugh, although I'm sure the experience was not amusing. I edit trailers and would love to help out. Looks like fun. I won't work for free but I can give you a discounted rate. If you're interested, PM me and I can send you some relevant trailer work I've done.

We worked with several sales agents and after months and months it was clear we weren't going to see a dime, but we thought we needed more production money. Turns out with thinking out of the box and pushing myself I was able to do everything essential and we didn't really need them. We have gone this far and we can finish this , but I would rather not lose another year coming up with the finances so we are looking for some assistance. We plan to release on VOD (not Netflix though) initially and go to some of the festivals that are also markets. After we have (hopefully) established we have a sellable product to find a distributor.

We need sound design, mix, 5.1, final grade, dub, deliverables for VOD, Blu-Ray and possibly DCP etc. So there is a ways yet to go, but Insectula! is fantastic and very funny!

We've been studying all we can about DIY. I was initially against it, but with the ground shifting in distribution so much recently, it is a far more attractive path than it was in the past.

SyFy might be looked at at the very end of the chain, but like you said I'm not sure it's their cup of tea. We really didn't spend much on the movie at all even though it looks like we did, so we are going to first try and get my IRA money back :(

"...Sorry your dry delivery of that made me laugh

Actually the heart attack wasn't painful at all and I hardly felt it, but nonetheless it was quite serious. The worst part was the bills and medications, and because it was just my wife and I funding this there was really no separation between our personal finances and the movies' so the money we had saved up went to the bills :( I'll PM you but there is so much material it's almost more painful to have someone else do it!
