Insane! Power everything and the kitchen sink from one v-mount.

The magic word is "soldering iron" - I just cuted the cable and soldered on of the spiral cables to it.
Covered with some heat shrink tubing - done.

I hear what you’re saying but the spiral cable and the cable on the DH-415
are different did you just solder to the hot line on the DH-415 and leave the ground alone?
Perhaps you can post a picture so I can see what you are talking about as I bought the same
set up you did. Thanks in advance Gary

Regarding the 7.2V out "for camera,"

I just came back from a shoot where I was using this v-mount system power two monitors and a 7D. I was using the proprietary Canon DR-E6 DC adapter in the camera, which I had spliced with one of the cables that came with the order, like Frank did for his FS100. I didn't solder the wires together, I just unsheathed a good length of wire on each cord, twisted them together - positive to positive, negative to negative - and then wrapped them individually with electrical tape.

This wasn't the first shoot I had used this setup on, however, the camera stopped working about an hour into what was supposed to be an 8-hour day. It just flashed the low battery warning and would not come back on. We threw in the normal Canon batteries (LP-E6) for the camera and kept on shooting, but it is such a hassle to change the batteries during the shoot, as I have the camera in a cage, which frustrated me even more about the battery not powering the camera properly.

The only thing I can think is that, as the camera stayed on for over an hour, the line resistance in the bonded wires increased, which dropped the voltage. My fear is that the 7.2V is just enough to power the camera - Canon lists the LP-E6 batteries as 7.4V - so as soon as the voltage started to drop from the line resistance to below 7.2V, it's too low for the camera to keep up.

So, I guess my solution is to expose more wire and solder them together this time, but I just wanted to air this out to see if anyone sees a flaw in my method.

Thanks.

So, what do we (meaning y'all) think of the li-ion batteries that come from China, with brand names lime Farseeing (like this v-lock adapter in OP) and slightly more stylish looking (whatever that's worth) Dynacore?

I am looking at getting a rather massive block (8.8Ah or so) to power my monitor all day long, and maybe also my GH2, whilst also killing another bird and balancing my shoulder rig out, without dead-weights! £150 is a lot of money to spend without a decent review of the V-lock/ Anton Bauer 3rd party situation. So far, all I know is that of the cheaper batteries, the Dynacore look like more care went into their appearance, but it's not enough to go on...

@Lucas:

I've been using the HDMI spliter as postmaster use but i use A/B mount. I can power smallHD monitor, LED light, AJA Pro mini, Canon 7D *with the batter adapter* and it work all day. I can even double up A/B battery if i want to.

So that HDMI spliter is WORKING as advertised. :) The battery adapter for Canon 7D/ 5D mk II :

I'll also going to try out the batter adapter for FS-100 from Zacuto, that way, everything is power off from the AB battery.

tell me about that stupid small 7.2v port. Few times i thought i broke that shiet off.

Very nice product. But what I don't understand is how to I power the Fs100 from the Vmount battery installed on this thing ? I didn't understand a few posts back what exactly needs to be spliced and diced but as i understand it you have to modify a cable to get this thing running or buy that Zacuto battery to Vmount adapter ?
I read in the product description page of the product that it has "one 5V(in) and one 5V(out) for the HDMI splitter" . What are these for ? Does the HDMI splitter have an additional requirement ?

thanks.

I honestly don't know what the "5V in" is for. I just don't use it. The built-in HDMI splitter doesn't require any more power or inputs.

To power the FS100, you would need to splice one of the included mini DC cables with the FS100's XLR power cable. Or, you can run it from a D-tap

or just this one. No need to splice.

Looks like the gold mount plate is out... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260865785235&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_1079wt_1294

ETA: The cable shown two posts up looks like it goes from D-Tap to the battery, how does that attach to this the listed V- or gold-mount setups? (which appears to be a DC-style adapter)

Now I am in. I have stacks of Gold Mounts and was not going to start buying new batteries especially after just buying 6 new Red One bricks.

There sure is... I totally missed it. Of course, that pic is of a v-lock, but a quick eBay question will confirm it's on the Gold Mount as well.

These packs are made by the same guys who do the Lanparte stuff.

Although I really don't understand why they're selling at $225 as I know for a fact that their cost price is nowhere near that..

If I can get hold of the Gold Mounts from the same supplier as the rest of my stuff I can get these at just shy of $200 including shipping.
If enough people are interested I'm sure I can get a group buy going for a much bigger discount than that.

I'd be in for one.

Sorry to leave you all hanging - still working out with the suppliers.
They keep telling me "no, V-Mount is better", hahaha.

Update you all soon!

UPDATE:

Okay, I have sorted out the Battery Pinch here;
I can get both the V-Mount and the Gold Mount at $192 USD including shipping to the USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK, Australia and New Zealand (and a few other places, but please contact me)
If enough people are interested I can negotiate a group buy price of $178 USD including shipping with a minimum of 10.

The shipping is DHL Express (not China Post or EMS like the other sellers) so it should get to you quickly.

PM me if you're interested and I'll set up a post to order it from.

Please keep in mind that I'm doing this at cost price for DVX forum members only.
