Well the title isn't exactly what I'm trying to ask, and I'm not known to be reckless & ambitious. But I want your opinions.
When I was growing up, back here in jolly old England. There was sod all support for young ambitious filmmakers. When I was 12 I was aching to be 13. 15 was the next target to enter some festivals, then goal posts moved to 18. Poor family, not even a camera on my phone. How could one get into the art of filmmaking?
So I've decided on a concept to launch a Charity, set at having a Young Filmmakers Festival. (At least that's how I can describe it so far) The principle idea would be to turn no entrants away, and try to build a foundation for young budding filmmakers. Give them a few competitions, and get there films screened. The issue of the matter is I want to give every teenager and child access to a half decent camera. But I can't actually settle on what camera has a good amount of options to experiment around with. I don't want something that will make a 3 year old have a mental break down, yet I don't want a 17 year old clicking the 'record' button and have no ability over other features. What's a decent camera that meets half way between novice and aspiring filmmaker. What gives you the options to take your work one step further, but you could do it blind folded with a gun wound to your hands?
Hoping someone will warm to my some what wacky approach at this.
Cheers.
