Inovativ Scout - Any users out there?

For 99% of my shoots, I pack all of my gear (plus a Magliner Sr!) into my hatchback. When I travel by air, a cart is out of the question since it's so big.

I've been eyeing the Inovativ Scout, due to how small and travel friendly it is. Plus when I fly, I can collapse/build it in the airport so I could stop renting those darn carts for $5-10 a pop.

Does anyone have experience with these carts? What are your thoughts? I love all the cart space on my Magliner Sr, so I'd be tempted to get the Scout 42, but the weight (75 lbs) is just past most airline 70lb thresholds. So either I couldn't bring it or I'd be slapped with a $200 overweight fee instead of a lower fee.

Let me know your experiences!

Believe it or not, a lot of people fly with regular Rock 'N Roller carts. They just fold 'em and check 'em. Most of the time they make it to the other side still working ;) . I think they're one of the best values/bangs-for-the-buck in this business.

I've looked at the Inovativ site several times before, and while their stuff looks very well engineered and will probably last a lifetime, even I think their prices are high(and I LOVE toys and appreciate quality and good engineering). I've never even bought a Magliner because I feel 99% of the time I'm better served by the much less expensive Rock 'N Roller carts.

I went from Magliner senior carts to Filmtools junior carts, as they are easier to maneuver for my current shooting scenarios. I also have a Rock N Roller cart, and the only real downside is the tires loose air. I have been meaning to replace them with a better solution.

That's the only real issue I've ever had, the tires and casters. I buy the no-flat tires now(it's an option on the bigger ones, at least) and go with the all-terrrain version that has the larger heavy duty casters. Their first gen of no-flats weren't good. They had a lot of "rolling resistance", but the newer ones are just fine.

Maybe I could look into the Rock N Roller a bit, a buddy has one that I could check out. One concern I have is that it's still kind of awkwardly shaped (with the fixed casters) but maybe I could get it to slide on top of a lot of gear in the hatchback (so it's the last item in, first item out).

The Scout packing up into a smooth box was appealing from a packing standpoint, but man... the price, yowch.

Josh,

As a dealer For Inovativ I've sold quite a few of the Scout carts. Iovativ carts are a pleasure to sell, as I love quality product that has been well thought out. One client I have bought the Scout 37 so it would easily fit in his Subaru, along with all his other DIT stuff. The space he saves can be taken up by product he is making money with. In addition, for some in the industry appearances also mean something and the Inovativ carts tell a story...

I've seen some great customer service / Warranty repair/replacement from them and as I'm sure you see from their website Inovativ has some nice accessories thought out.
