Ink???

Here's the thread! Geez. The hell did I put it in User Films for? I was looking over in the normal films section...

Anyway, yeah! Got my blu-ray. The commentary was pretty cool. I wish they would have mentioned something about the sound. The only thing I know is that the wife did all of the sound stuff -- they never mentioned what equipment they used.

I still feel like this movie probably cost on about 75K. The producer and writer/director spent an additional 14 months on post work. I wouldn't be surprised if their time was included in that "250K" budget.

The producer talked about how finance was her trade before "producing". I wouldn't be surprised if she knows exactly how to get their company the most write-offs possible.

Not taking anything at all away from the film, but they mentioned that there was a good chunk of the shoot where it was a 4 person crew, including the director and producer. All of the actors are unknown and in Denver. The locations were largely donated. They shot on a prosumer camera...

The only real crew expenses would have been their Denver-based stunt person, their Denver-based make-up person and the occasional additional crew members on the larger shoots. They had a lot of people to thank and far fewer who had to be paid.

Again, I think the movie plays really well for a truly indie flick. 99% of the time I can't make it 10 minutes through an indie flick without turning it off. I've seen this one once with commentary and twice without, so it must be doing something right.

I just think their claiming 250K because that's the perfect number. If you bump the budget too high people (like Zak) will vomit that more than that was spent on this movie. If they lower the figure to 80K the average moviegoer (and potential distributor) might devalue it.

Also, to Barry's point about showing how it was all done, I think that was a huge help to the average moviegoer. I read several comments where people said they thought the movie was just "okay", but when they found out how it was accomplished they became supporters.

I think "250K" is an aspect of their marketing strategy (see: leaking the film onto torrents sites). It creates intrinsic value while not having people expect more.

But then I love a good conspiracy! ;)

Oh, and btw, apparently upon purchasing my *signed* copy of the blu-ray, I became part of the "INK ARMY".

I'm all a flutter.

Geez

I was just offering it as a point of interest... he made that post back in 2006. before he even finished shooting. we need a museum section for DVXuser.
