Ink flow masking?

Hey.

I have found stock footage of ink flowing into water.. the ink is white and background is black..

I want to know how to use this footage in my comp. Would u use Luma Matte/ Alpha Matte to mask a solid? Any info on how to utilize the black/white ink footage would be reeeeally helpful! Thanks!

I would probably go to Effects - Color Correction - Colorama and in the output drop down choose ramp grey. Mess with those settings for a while until you get a mask you like and like you said, choose either Luma Matte or Inverted Luma Matte to achieve what you're going for.
