R.I.P. our beloved Master.

Well - at least it's pretty certain he won't be forgotten.
That's the nice thing about making films - for good or for bad, you're immortalized.

In this case, clearly it's for good.

Then again, for all I know many younger members are reading this and thinking..."Who's Bergman?"
:)

Farewell to my hero...

:( With heavy heart I learned of this news this morning. Ingmar Bergman is one of the three directors that turned me on to filmmaking (David Lynch and John Cassavetes being the other two). There are two shelves on my bookcase stuffed full of Bergman books. I have ALL of his DVD released films. Yes, I'm that big a fan.

Although his death is not tragic, he was almost 90 after all, it is still hard to fathom that one of the modern masters of cinema is no longer with us. I always dreamed of meeting him one day. I guess that day will come much, much later, as they say. :(

Peace.

I'm familiar with his work but I've only seen the Seventh Seal.

I think this calls for a Bergman movie marathon.

I think that will happen automaticly here on the national television, they usually prepare for this thing years before they pass away.

*EDIT* Yes I was correct they will start show his movies the next couple of days starting with Wild Strawberries tonight.

Can't we get a moderator to spell his name correctly? :(

I was watching several of his movies lately. I must say that I was surprised to hear he had passed. The shock, to be honest, was finding out he had been alive this whole time.

RIP

My brother called me around 11 this morning(Swedish time) and said that Bergman was dead. I was shocked but not that shocked at the same time. That's a funny feeling.

When I heared that he didn't go to bergman week at fårö in the beginning of this month I hade a feeling that this would come but not this soon.
