inexpensive solutions to mount camera to body

I'm looking to execute a shot where camera frames only protagonists head - with much of the BG out of focus (thus no way to do it with GoPro).
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a solution - possibly a rental in New York.
Even though the main camera is C300, we could try to film this shot with much lighter camera such a DSLR.

Obviously this will require some kind of frame/rig attached to the body. And I presume you don't want the frame to be visable. You could start out with some kind of stedicam rig (the harness) and then attach something to that (avoiding the flexibility built into the rig). A lot of DSLRs are heavy. Maybe a lighter camera? That's as far as I can take it. It might be helpful to know what the purpose of the shot is.

Or experiment with building a proper sturdy rig... I remember seeing some BTS from requiem for a dream and that wasnt a light snorri setup.
