Hi All!!

I have been lurking for a few months here after purchasing my DVX100 cam and I must say I love this site and have learned TREMENDOUSLY from each and everyone of the sites members.

I have a question that maybe someone could help me with....

I am currently looking for inexpensive lighting. I have @ $200 to spend on this and am looking into these two packages...

Or

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I think either kit would work for you in the short term if you take really good care of them. I wouldn't expect them to hold up to abuse for very long. I would hold off and save money for something a little more sturdy and flexible.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My main concern was would they "suck" so to speak ::grin:

Filming right now is a hobby....and at times an expensive one at that :winky..... and having something inexpensive now that is useable is what I am weighing over the long term. If I begin to make money from filming....then long term would probably be my consideration and I might not have a budget at that point (or not one as small) :winky

All things being equal.....and given MY scenario......which would YOU purchase?

And again....thanks tremendously :)

I use a kit similar to your option "A" and it works ok for my uses, though I would recommend getting a softbox or similar for the lights (at least one)

Surpised no one mentioned Rostronics yet. Some decent budget lighting over there.

Agreed. He won't get as much for $200 through them, but it'll be better stuff.

I just picked up another 200w Britek from them and it's a huge improvement over their old style. It's built exactly like their 600w but smaller. Very solid light for $70.

Thanks again to everyone.

Gonna check out the rostronics site (they are currently working on it) and fish around it.

Thanks also for the blackwrap tip!

It seems like I'm ythe only one who isn't too happy with the britek lights. The foil inside my softboxes is peeling away and they have been used only 3 times. They're very difficult to get warrantied. I'd stay away if I were you.
