Inexpensive HD to SD monitor solution?

Has anyone found a reliable and inexpensive solution to get HD to SD conversion?

Here's what I'm currently doing:

Shoot HVX P2 (ingest 1080/24PA)
Edit in FCP 5.x
View/edit on dual LCD monitors

I used to view my SD data on a nice SD monitor. I'd like to down-convert my HD signal to SD so that I can see a better representation of what my colors etc will look like. However, I'm not yet ready to purchase a new video card and/or HD monitor.

Any suggestions? I've looked at the $495 Blackmagic box - but from what I understand you need not only the box, but a new video/graphics card to make it "work".

What blackmagic box?

The cheapest you are going to get is $1000. Decklink Extreme or even Matrox MXO. Decklink has the advantage of being able to capture footage as well.
