Inevitable short life of camera batteries???

this morning I am testing several Power 2000 3200mAh, Li-on, batteries that appear to have degenerated in the past 1.5-2 years. Many ( almost all) from this crop read "empty" after only 10 minutes of recording with the LCD open. Some continue to record even though they read "empty"..for no more than 30 minutes.

I exchanged two of these same batteries to Adorama, earlier this year for the SAME problem. It was a pain, I'm not sure if we will go that route for recourse, again. For some batteries, it is past the eligibility time for such exchanges.

Recently, we have stocked up on this website's DVX user batteries for their overall great quality, longevity, record times, and price. We have even bought more of the newest type. Over time, are we to expect a simliar limited life-use due to the limitations of this type of battery manufacturing-specs, or is this a brand issue?

just wondering, we have upwards of $800 in batteries..many are used once or twice a week.

fyi, the original panasonic battery that came with the camera has held up since day one.

I think you've answered your own question there Pooh when you said the original Panasonic battery that came with the camera has held up since day one.

The after market batteries are cheaper for a reason.
They don't last.

Stick with Panasonic batteries. They do cost more, but they're cheaper than buying the "cheap" batteries.

Agreed. I've got a couple of the Power2000's that I bought way, way back -- and they don't last too long. My CGR-D54 and my DVXUser batteries last forever.

thanks all. I CAN'T WAIT. CAN'T WAIT for the new biggies..
I screwed up last weekend and was not using my dvxuser.com batt for the ceremony and regretted, though avoided a disaster.

put on one of the defective, @#$#%$ Power 2000 batts at the start of a wedding ceremony. Sure enough ( about 10 minutes in..) bride is coming down the aisle and the batt reads EMPTY. as she was mid-stride, mid-aisle, there was nothing to do but pray. the second she made it up there, I was sooo relieved. the batts continued to stress me out for the whole catholic mass.
