IndiRails IndiFocus and Cavision

Hi everyone,
I sent an email inquiring about the IndiRail stuff. The guy is having a family emergency and will not be dealing with business until July 12th. I know some people were wondering what was going on.
Anyway, I can wait for a Follow Focus but I don't think I can wait for Rail Supports. So I guess I'm thinking of Cavision. I have a couple questions. Since the IndiFocus is SOOOOO much cheaper than the others I kinda want that, but will it fit just fine on Cavision rails? Also Cavision only seems to offer 10" rails (at least at B&H), where as IndiRails markets the 18" rails for 35mm adapters. Is it not advisable to get the 10".

Another quick one. What does a "whip" do for a FF?

I ordered my Letus35 Flip a few days ago and just ordered a 50mm Nikon AI 1.4 to go with it ($100). Still looking for other lenses.

thanks,
noah

Noah,

I'm a dealer for both Tim's indiFOCUS and Cavision. The indiFOCUS Universal and GEAR versions both fit on any 15mm x 60mm on-center iris rod system. The Universal system utilizes the foam compression wheel and the GEAR version is a film pitch add-on that requires the addition of a 75mm or 95mm lens ring.

We can order any size iris rods you need, with 25cm and 50cm (about 20") being most common.

Let me know if you have other questions!

Thanks for the reply,
Do you happen to have the IndiRails in stock? They are a bit cheaper than the Cavision ones and there is a version with 18" rods. For the Cavision ones you have, you must spend $95 extra to get the 20" rods in addition to the rod system?
Also, could you add Cavision's DOF converter T-Bracket to the IndiRails?

I don't have any of the indiRAILS right now. I'll drop Tim a line and find out how long he expects to be out due to his family situation. He might have someone minding the shop during his trip.

If you prefer it, I can package the bridge plate and riser (RS15IIm) with 18" or 20" rods instead of the standard 10" (25cm). Just PM me and I'll get you a custom quote today.
