indiFocus Mini now shipping w/ NEW SNAP GEARS!

Yeah thanks for the review! Definitely like what I've heard and seen about the Snap Gears. I'm still debating over whether to pick them up with the indiFocus mini or indiFocus pro.

personally, I wouldn't go for the pro. The advantages just don't add up to the doubled cost.

Unless you have an odd height requirement or a dying need for hard stops, go with the mini and save up for a redrock v2

Sweet, thanks for the feedback! I didn't know if there'd be a noticeable improvement in backlash between the two, but you made it sound like you were happy with the mini, especially considering the price.

we use both HDSLR's and an XH-A1/Letus for shooting, so we needed height adjustability; otherwise we would have gone with a mini.

I'm unsure if the mini will work with my shoulder mount, because of the height issue. Here's my setup. I'm using the original indifocus now - I had to flip the gearbox over and redrill the holes. It works, but I'd like something with less backlash, less bulk, and I'd like the wheel to be closer to the handle so I can get to it easier. But like I said, I don't know if the mini will reach high enough to hit the gears. Any opinions based on this picture?

I have a feeling you'll be fine. Keep in mind you can slide the ff in (horizontally) to make up for some of the height. The drive gear would be more underneath the lens.

Try dropping you current ff down a bit and pushing it inward. I think that'll give you a good estimation.

Oh, one more question. The mini says it is reversible - does that mean that it can be mounted like I have mine (with the gearbox in front of the gear)?

I'm soon to be acquiring a lens adapter. Do you think the lack of height adjustment might be a problem if I purchase the mini as an accessory? Cause I'll tell you, for the price, yeah, I want one too!

how do the snap gears work with small nikon primes. Do i have to rig up the padding? all my primes are old manual primes and are all pretty skinny.

i used hockey tape and harder foam (packing foam) to get a snug fit. or wrap some 3M foamtape around the focus ring.

I don't mean to revive an old thread, but has anyone been able to get thru to indisystem via the phone? I have snap gears, but they don't fit my nikon primes, and I really need some nikon collars to make them work. I've been trying here and there for two weeks to get a hold of him, and it always rings and goes to voicemail

I love the snap gears, but they're unusable to me at this point and it's driving me batty.

I have an indi focus mini on order for a few weeks now. I spoke to Time last monday and he assured me it would be shipped my that thursday. Now a week later I still haven't gotten and shipment, tracking info, or been able to get him on the phone.

So your not the only one who cant get a hold of him

Just got mine. Definitely does not work with my Panasonic micro 4/3 lens. Too weak to pull the focus on them. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm annoyed because it from what I'm hearing any sort of return or exchange with them is going to be a pain in the ass. Bottom line, it doesn't work.
