Indie FilmTech Tips on my site

Hey folks,

I've just added a new Indie Film Tech Tip to my site. It has info on Gels & Diffusion. Also, I've broken Grip Kit Goodies into two clips so they are a little smaller. All the tips are 3:22 or under and are Windows Media Files.

I made these to help beginning filmmakers understand the basics of some techincal issues of filmmaking. They're just little pieces I've thrown together. Check 'em out and let me know what you think?

Go to the filmmaking page.

There's a short Tip on China Lanterns available too.

Nice reel, Scott.

Are you currently working on anything interesting?

The BW shots in your reel, how did you shoot those? They have a very old world feeling to them.

Re: Indie FilmTech Tips on my site

All of the B&W stuff was either 16mm or 35mm. The music video was 16mm, the stuff of the husband abusing his wife was 35mm (I stole the lighting set-up from Haskel Wexler) and some of the other B&W was 35mm so that may explain the "old world" look. 98% of reel is film work. I've done tons of video, but until I got my DVX100, I really didn't get to shoot much creative video that was worth putting on my reel.

Thanks for the comments.

Re: Indie FilmTech Tips on my site

Hey Scott, great page, man. besides the great rell as it was said, the indie tech tips and the articles are very helpful, and make up for a very rich reference for begginers. It's fun how the basics of production work are the same with indie sets and the huge hollywood ones... I've been working more on those indie things lately (because I get the chance to actually speak) and as it turns out, it works a lot as you described... Wich just proves that they are killer tips!

Thanks for the archive!

Scott,

Some nice stuff on your page--your articles and the linked ones are great. The clips are a good introduction. It would be a great to expand them a bit and do some demos :-).
