Anyone know of any indie films shot entirely on greenscreen? I am tossing around the idea of using nothing but digital backdrops for my next project and was looking to see whats out there. Any links would be great. thanks
The only reason I'd shoot a low budget film on green screen was if i *wanted* a very surreal, unnatural look. If I was going for realism, I'd find SOME way to shoot it that involves a practical location of some sort.
I've got experience with keying and 3D work so I'm going for it. Some of the ideas I have just arent going to work with physical sets, so I'm going with digital backdrops. It's going to be a ton of camera tracking, keying and modeling, but I'm hoping it will come out well. I'll be sure to post up some footage and grabs as they come in, but don't expect any before the holidays.
Do a full scene as a test before trying a full length feature. If you don't have perfect keying you can apply a Magic Bullet Look (or any color filter) to the final piece and it will help hide green halos caused by green screen keying. Try it and good luck!
PK, I was going to throw the footage through MB. I've studied frames from Sky Captain and Casshern and they both look as if the were diffused a great deal to hide the fact that it was all digital. I'll throw up some of my test footage or some critiques as soon as I get to shooting. Thanks!!
