Indie Filmmakers

Besides my Twilight Fest entry...no. But I'm sure there will be something in the works after the Fest.

I'm game! This should prove to be a great group. I've been working with video for years and finally have time to produce my own films. Looking forward sharing ideas & information.

we have been promoting our second lo/no budget feature while in the process of writing our third.
Our second feature Brainwrap has received great reviews and we' have played in local area theaters with some what of a success. We sold out our premiere showing in May at a local theater in Maryland to a crowd of 150 people. No its not huge amount but hey its better than nothing. The film was shot on the DVX100A. DVDs are available @ www.brainwrapmovie.com or on Amazon.
Its a B-movie definitley and those that are fans of John Waters or Roger Corman may enjoy it. A Dark Comedy with slight horror elements kind of like a Tales From The Crypt Episode.

Judging from the description shouldn't this be micro-budget filmmaking or DIY filmmaking. A lot of indie films have decent budgets.

Now that I've uploaded my Twilightfest films...it's on to the next project. I find if I don't keep moving, I won't make another film until another contest.

I've been working on a script for a 30 minute short. Has anyone here attempted a long-short? (is that like jumbo shrimp?) Any advise? I've always been a one-man show, so I find that being organized is key. I see the first step as locking the script and then going through it to weed-out locations, props, etc... That way I can start to get a real budget together. Once the budget is in place, I can look into funding the project.

...from there, the real work begins. Is this the process you all use?
Talk to me....

Hi Indie filmmakers,

I have a new digital film project that needs your help.

Here's the pitch;

The Dice Man Blog is a new concept in filmmaking, we are challenging the subscribers to get involved in the thought process behind the film inspired by Luke Rhinehart's The Dice Man. The blog will literally help write, cast and direct the movie!

And it's totally free!

Each we week ask a series of questions and then the reader, will vote and discuss. The results help to shape the final movie and every contributor will receive a credit on the film.

http://gagdirectors.blogspot.com

Logline:
Eight students searching for 'THE' alternative experience find more than they hoped for at the hands of the die.

Short Synopsis:
Eight students looking for the ultimate alternative experience decide to lock themselves away in a house for a week in the French Alps, with a bagful of drugs and furtive imaginations. On the drive over, one of them reads The Dice Man and convinces the other students that the ultimate alternative experience would be to adopt his rules for the rest of the week and leave their decisions to a chance roll of the die (think Russian Roulette but with dice). What starts as a fun experiment soon becomes as serious as life and death. Their alternative experience becomes a struggle for survival as all boundaries are crossed and some take to the amoral lifestyle like it's second nature. Will any of them make it back alive?

What I Want:
Collaborators to get involved with the process. We are the first digital feature film to write, cast, fund and direct our movie using a blog were the subscribers get to decide how the film is made.

It's a very low budget feature made in the style of Cloverfield (first person camera POV) but without the CGI monsters. A Horror/Thriller that should appeal to the universal teen movie market and we're looking for contributors, subscribers and some money men.

I would greatly appreciate any help you could give us by passing this onto the right people etc.

I'm an indie film maker in the Detroit area. I am in post production and have some equipment sitting idle right now. If there is any interest in renting HVX200 equipment, or an Artemis, send me a PM note.

I'm also available to help out as an operator. I have some Artemis (a.k.a. Steady Cam) operation experience with an HVX 200 that I can put to good use on your project. I shoot with both P2 and FS100 on the Artemis and have experience shooting for extended periods of time.

contact me if I can help out on your next project.

Greetings,

I'm experiencing difficulties in exporting footage from a hvx 200. I'd like to transfer the footage to an external hdd, but when I get to the part where you can choose to format the hdd, copy to hdd ect. (page 83, part 5 in the eng manual) I only get one option - to activate or deactivate 'varify'. I can see the other options, but only in gray, and I cannot move from the 'setup' line.
The camera is set to 1394 host and the p2 card setup, as the manual dictates, but surely some setting must be wrong - or does the camera need service of some kind?
Obviously, I'd be very grateful if some clever person/-s could help me clear the issue.

Regards j

Hey
I have a project that I'm working on and I would really like to start filming in Dec/Jan and I just can't make up my mind about a certain aspect. Well I've done reading on the camera that I do want, the Panasonic DVX obviously, but I can't decide whether to purchase the 100A or the 100B. I have read all the articles here and at other sites. I would prefer a 100B but it does tend to be more expensive and obviously have a zero budget after the camera that is. So should I hold out and keep saving for a 100B or just settle for the 100A? Thanx
