I should have looked at indiedolly.com They have one you can ride. Hmm. Still hoping to hear from a pro, if any have used one of their products before I get someone to pay out. :)

Hi Cinecell, I will give you some unbiased opinions (even though I sell them :) )

1- I have an Indie dolly, and the money is in the track. It is incredible. As a shooter, I have parked a huge crane on it, with a DVX and remote head too, and did a dolly shot straight out a window of a 20th floor aptmt, and it was the coolest money shot ever. Looked like the camera was flying, and it was supersmooth.

2- As a dealer, I have never had a returned Indie Dolly.

3- Dollies are handmade in California.

4- I have had them in my rental department for 2 years, and we are still using the original curve and straight kit we bought then. Over a hundred people have used them, still solid.

Edit on 7/18/05: Sorry forgot to mention that all track is anodized metal, which is where the durability comes from.

If your budget is around the sub $1k range, I would recommend you take a look at the Super Track Dolly from Long Valley Equipment. http://www.longvalleyequip.com/dolly.php I've used this setup myself before (even with a jib) with absolutely smooth-as-silk tracking. It has a 600lbs payload capacity and is completely rideable. If your're looking for a real good deal on a complete setup for one of these, Doug at Long Valley Equip. is currently auctioning a demo unit complete with 25ft. of track, 3 curved sections and accessories. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7530892700 Hope this helps.
