Indiana University around dusk

I was doing some shots around campus the other day with my new Nikon D200.

I thought I'd share:

Thanks!

I shot two separate shots on a tripod. I can't remember the exact settings. One was closed to the point where it made the lights pop out on the buildings. That was the luminescent focal point I had in mind. The other point I wanted to capture was the beautiful sky. I had to let it expose a lot longer and blowout certain colors near the building on the 2nd shot in order to get the sky I wanted. My eyes could pick it up the entire scene but not the camera.

After that I went into photoshop and rotoscoped above the darker shot of the buildings and lower levels. That let the sky, from the more exposed sky shot, shine through. Voila, my true vision of the moment captured.

I'm very happy with the framing, but honestly I should have gotten an earlier start on that photo. It has a lot of grain. I think I used too high of an ISO setting and didn't use any NR. Oh well, that's what it's all about. Live and learn.
