On Sunday I was working as a PA on this indepedent film. It was really interesting to see how they were working with 16mm film.
They were using the Arri SR3 Advanced.

After I helped clean up the set..I was able to help the DP and camera assistant. While they were settin up the camera...I managed to snag a few pics before I had to help out again.

I only managed 3 pics. But watchin them film was really cool. I also managed to get a looksee through the camera's eyepiece to see the true quality of the prime lenses they were using and mess around with the DOF of those lenses...and i have to say...DAMMN!!! Ultra Prime lenses...50mm, 65mm, 85mm...AMAZING!!

thats it for my rant. lol

yeah, prime lenses are a totally different breed compared to our prosumer glass. But then again, who can afford them!

Yup, and real film is so different from digital... SO different. I love film, love the experience. With digital, 1 person can make an entire movie. With film, it encourages collaboration and therefore teamwork, and it produces wonderful work. Glad that you got that experience, the shoot sounds fun.
