Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I've been away from dvxuser for a bit. I'm moving to California in august to go to Columbia College for a bachelor's degree in cinema. I've been wanting to start a site dedicated to indie film artists in the entertainment industry- kind of a networking thing so people can meet. Here's my resources:
My dad owns a technology company; I have a server i built running on Fedora 3. On it I host my main site (still under construction) http://www.unitedindiefilms.com. I have bought another domain for a specific purpose as explained below:
On my server I set up a blogging engine. I thought that it might be cool to start a service for independent artists free of charge- a journaling/blogging website for independent artists so that they can journal what goes on in their normal day, how far they are on a project, etc. They can post grabs of their films similar to that on dvxuser. I havent decided how much space I would allocate to each user yet. I just wanted to check with you guys to see if you think its worth it. If so, I'd like to get a beta up and running tomorrow night. Depending on how it goes I might be able to get my dad to invest in it and get a beefier server with even more bandwidth- its running on a t1 right now.
Thanks guys
-Zach
