Not sure if this is the best place the post this but i stumbled upon this movie contest for Incubus.

They just released a new album so they put up some greenscreen footage of them playing to the new song "dig" and are asking their fans to make a video.

I'm considering trying it out, even if i don't finish by the deadline it gives me some cool footage to play with and a concept to design. You need to have it all done and submitted by January 15th so not too much time.

Anyways if anyones interested the link is here: http://www.idigincubus.com/

you can win a macbookpro and final cut software and the winning video will be used as their official product, should be fun :D

having a video for incubus on my demo, and the gigs that would lead to, would be way cooler then a new macbook pro.

Very nice find. I'm in.

EDIT: Now that I've actually read through this a bit, I'm understanding just how fantastic this idea is. Brilliant marketing, and I can't wait to get started. I hope this works out for Incubus, and more bands jump on the wagon.

glad you guys find this interesting, i'm curious to see what can be put together. I agree that a macbookpro is not what you really gain from this at all, its the recognition that can really make your work be seen.

I just hope i have time to really put something together, if not i hope someone on this board can show their skill with this contest. I'm a big fan of Incubus and i'm really happy they're doing something like this.

Haven't read much about the DV50 codec though... i guess i heard Vegas can read it? Haven't tried yet.

Ok, so I downloaded all the video files last night (about 1 GB each). I extracted them all into a folder, and went to play them and none of them have video. Im using a PC, so am I missing a codec or something? If you guys have any answers or if you have downloaded the files and are trying to edit them, please let me know. This is a great oppurtunity for everyone. Or at the very least a good portfolio piece. any info would be fantastic

same problem here. Actually for me, it just froze my computer once the quicktime player opened. Not sure if the file size is too big? I man my computer is brand new qith duel core processors. anyways, from what I read, some people have the problem while other don't and no one knows why.

It's discussed here on the second or third page, I think.

I'm on a Mac, so no troubles here... but I think it's a codec that you'll need in order to open the files on a PC.

I hate these contests. it looks like the real trend of web 2.0 is people getting other people to do work for them for free. Stephen Colbert's green screen challenge was one thing, that was funny. Then the Decemberists came out and asked for one using the same idea, now incubus? They have money, they can pay people to make their own freakin' video.

so youre saying that you DONT want the chance to show your talent nationwide to be seen by millions of people therefore almost guaranteeing a paved road for the rest of your career? suit yourself, a better chance for me.
