Incorporating 16x9 1080/30p HD footage into 24p 4:3 DV timeline

Howdy all,

I'm shooting some effects shots for a short that was shot almost entirely with the DVX100 in 24PA mode at 4:3 and is being cut in FCP on a 4:3 24p timeline. Final output will be letterboxed to 16x9 within the 4:3 ratio.

The effects shots will be done with an HVX200, some at 1080 24PA, others shot in interval mode at 30P.

So two questions:

1. How do I get the native 16x9 HVX HD footage to the same size as my 16x9 frame within my 4:3 timeline? To be clear; final output is a letterboxed 16x9 frame within a 4:3 ratio, so I need my true 16x9 HD footage to match the letterboxed 16x9 footage size within the 4:3 ratio.

2. How do I incorporate the interval mode footage into the 24P timeline? Unfortunately, you can't shoot 24pa in interval mode, and when I tried putting a DVD dub of some 30p interval mode footage into the 24p timeline, all it did was drop frames from the shot, rather than just playing each individual frame that was shot.

Thanks for any help.
