In your experience, will having a PC instead of a Mac (FCP) hold me back?

I have used FCP for about 4 years and Premiere for about 5. I've always preferred the faster speed of Premiere and its ability to work natively with After Effects without having to import/export into a file back and forth etc. I didn't have to buy a Mac because UC Berkeley always had editing labs for me to use Final Cut Pro if someone asked me to edit on FCP. But I'm about to graduate soon and move to LA. I'd really really like to not have to buy an expensive 2,000$+ Mac Book Pro or Mac Book.

For those in the industry, would it seriously hinder my opportunities if I didn't get a Mac in order to completely switch to Premiere?

Not these days, IMO.

Plus Premiere is totally cross platform, so I would save your coins and get a nice PC to edit on.
