I'm not going into detail on what I'm doing, but here it is in a nutshell:

What I need:

A hard plastic, preferably clear, round container, kind of like a 2 liter bottle of soda except much, much sturdier.

Does anyone have any idea where I could get my hands on something like that? Don't think too hard about what I'm doing...it's not as literal as I made it sound...I just need a container that's about 8-10 inches long and maybe 6 inches wide, or something that I can cut down into those dimensions.

PVC pipe is not clear, it's opaque. Acrylic and plexiglass tubing can be found in those sizes. You need to find a place that specializes in plastics, or maybe a glass supplier that would sell that.
 
If it has to be clear you want either acrylic or polycarbonate. Acrylic is generally cast but can be extruded. When you think of plexiglass you pretty much are dealing with acrylic. Its sole down side is its brittle when cutting and drilling. Polycarbonate is much stronger, is generally extruded and is a lot more money. Mcmaster Carr is a good source for some clear tubes. We used them for tube on a movie prop we designed and build last year (brain canister).

The more I think about it, the less I care that it is clear. The chief elements to consider here are strength, cost, and probably malleability, as I'll have to do a little bit of cutting and incising.

What are you trying to DO? Are you trying to make a storage container for that Albinar lens? are you trying to make it cosmetically LOOK like the Canon Lens? (WHY?) Are you trying to make it FUNCTION like the Canon lens? (With that see-thru window or something)? I gotta admit that your question makes no sense without some context.
 
sorry i didnt notice the clear part i just saw thee picture of the canon lens and i thought of white pvc pipe
