In Sync / Out of Sync

I am noticing that footage looks to be insync while I am editing looking at my Canvas/Timeline, however when I monitor the footage via an external monitor it appears to be off a few frames. Is that normal? The footage was shot 24P normal and not advanced. I am using the original DVX100 camera and yes I know about the Sync Tool.

Are you going to the monitor via firewire? If so, make sure you are set to: View>Audio Playback>Audio Follows Video and NOT left on Built-in Audio. If you leave it on Built-in Audio, it will not sync with your video on the monitor.

The "Sync" tool you refer to is not for video. It's there to sync up a separate video device with a separate audio device for film work. People misunderstand that a lot.

If you're monitoring the audio via your computer, and watching the video on an external monitor, they will appear to be out of sync, as there's latency in the video going through all that stuff on it's way to the external monitor.
