In Premiere CS4, to after effects, back to premiere & then a Problem..

When I originally started my project, it was edited in premiere, then I thought I read "replace with AE composition" was what I supposed to do (more on that later) to get it into after effects for some effects & Color correcting , then back into premiere. Only thing is, now that I am back in premiere wanting to add a couple transitions and sound efx, the only project in my timeline is the "AE inked file" (all effected but not giving me the option of seeing the 40 or so cuts from the single files) ..? its like it has replaced my cuts with just one file and for the life of me I cant figure out how to bring back the full edits!!
( I'm sure it had something to do with that damn replace with AE Comp =keyword I guess is REPLACE -but I didnt know it then ) Do you know what I did wrong OR if there is any way in hell to get back my original edit cuts in the timeline in replace of the one single AE file?
btw, I cant go back to the autosave file as I have been trying to figure this out so long that it has saved beyond that point.. I tried.

hope that made sense..

I am in CS4 master collection on a pc..

you can put cuts into the AE file on the timeline but unfortunaly, your cuts are long gone.

Why not just copy and paste the rough cuts into AE, do what you need to do, and then export from there?

But yeah, sounds like you'll need to re-cut it (unless opening the AE file in AE gives you each cut as a separate layer). If not duplicated exactly, you can think of it as a chance to improve it.

There's surely truth in that. I can't count the times some technical glitch I originally viewed as a disaster ended up resulting in a better version once reconstructed. The pain of the original snafu goes away pretty quickly when that happens. Hopefully, that will be the case for you with this, truehuss. Best of luck!

jordan you were right, the cuts were in AE so I did a workaround and was able to salvage it..whew.. it took a while but thank god I didnt have to re-cut. I didnt just cut and paste because there are ALOT of clips and to do that tedious sh1t would've frustrated the hell out of me.. The dynamic link isnt as streamlined as I would want it to be but I have found another way to do things.. a lil more work but heh..

thanks for the help fellas

Really glad it worked out for you, truehuss! So now you have go to the trouble of messing things up so you have the chance to improve it. :D
