In Need of Wired Lavalier mic

Because this is omni directional I guess I will get a lot of ambient noise. I would rather have something more directional for talking heads. If anyone knows of something like that, please do let me know. I am guessing this is called uni-directional.

Cardioid mics can be a problem for talking heads. The slightest head movement can take them "off-mic" and lead to wild fluctuations in the recording. An omni is much more suited. The carioids are pretty much intended for use in sound reinforcment scenarions where controlling feedback from speakers becomes an issue. High ambient noise is controlled by the fact that the lav is much closer to the speaker's mouth than it is to the noise sources.

There is a good reason lavaliers are omnis:

- no proximity effect
- same sound quality no matter where the sound comes from (no head turn problem, no aiming problems)
- less handling noise
- better low fequency extension (if needed)

ops..., 4 reasons.

I once owned a Sony ECM-44B lav and I hated it. Low output and fairly muddy sound. Tram TR50 is my current favorite in fairly noisy environments, otherwise the Sanken Cos-11x sounds like a HQ condensor but it picks up a lot of room noise, so I use the Tram most of the time.
