in-moving-car dialogue recording

I'm gonna have to record two ppls' conversations in a moving car, possibly with windows down, any mic recommendations? mic combinations?

if the windows are down, then you might be able to get away with a single mic mounted down in the center column. Something like a Sanken CUB-01, but depending on the road, a boundary mic might not work. You could also use something like an MKH50 on a PSC fleximount with a shockmount mounted down in the center console, and that should work pretty well. If the windows are up, then you can hide something like a cardioid boundary mic in the sun visor. Some people have mounted lavs in the middle of the steering wheel as well.

It's really going to depend on the shot. Car interiors are tricky, but it's easy to hide mics in them.

The big thing to remeber is that the closer to the source (you want to record) the better sound you will get. So hide mics as close as possible. You can also consider shotgun mics in the floor or on the roof.

Ive used two sennheiser416s mounted in an XY pattern over the curve under the dash, so they cross the centre and hit the actors. Thats pretty cool. The other thing to remember about cars is that the higher your mic or the more its aimed away from the road surface, the less mechanical (engine/road) noise you'll get. Lapels mounted in the car are good, sometimes you want to stay away from body mounting the mics because of selt beat issues (people driving cars move A LOT!)

Anyways, thats what I know from my experience.
