In drafting a business plan

I'm looking for some graphs/demographics to ensure the potential clients as to why they may need the services I can offer. I was wondering if any of you knew of any good outlets to find these graphs and/or charts? I was pry going to check out the library tomorrow and see if I can't scrounge some stuff up there and will continue searching online.

Thanks in advance

What are your services? Who are your potential clients? Are you sure you are looking for a business plan? A business plan is a document that describes an investment opportunity that with a cash flow document and projected revenue show how they will make money over x number of years.

Or are you looking for whitepapers that show how "services" you offer have increased revenue for "type" of business that are similar to your clients? Which in the end is a marketing document.

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the response. I'm more or less building a business plan that I can re-work accordingly as opportunities arise. I understand that it may be premature and will require upkeep, but I think it may be efficient in the sense that I can go back periodically, tweak something here or there, and then offer that to potential investors.

I guess I'm using the plan early on in the stage to sort of set up a method of implementation that the company can use in order to attain its goals. Sorry if that makes no sense, I'm clearly a n00b in this area and just seeking guidance from various outlets...I just don't want to turn into the underpants gnomes hehe

Just trying to get a sense of what you are looking to build plans for... is it a plan for your business? Or is it a plan for a particular film? Those are structured differently as one is more of an LLC, the other more of a limited partnership, etc. Or are you planning on creating several businesses that are close to the same?

I think you can find business plan templates in Microsoft and on the web - how you apply the market view to them will be unique to your plan. For example, making a new mousetraps?

Executive Summary
The team
Investment opportunity
market share of total available market
competitors
cash flow and project revenue
exit strategy (if part off the plan)
etc.

They want to know if you know the market, the competition, are you competent enough to pull it off, how little can the invest but still ensure your success, and more importantly, how soon do they break even and make a profit.

Thanks Michael, I'm actually forming a 'plan' for the business that details more the services offered as well as the general direction the company is going. Eventually, I will probably have to create one should we tackle the endeavor of a film but for now I'm just using the business plan as something I can show potential clients who may question why my company and what advantages would they have by choosing me over another

Again, thanks for all the help. It's good to have some sense of guidance since this can tend to get a bit convoluted when it comes down to the legalities and what not

Then that sounds more like a technical/artistic marketing paper that displays both your knowledge of the industry and market you serve, and why your services and talents will be able to meet the needs of the clients you are trying to serve. 80% of it will be the same, and 20% of it will be tweaked to the target customer that will be reading it. Much like a resume and a cover letter.
