In CS5 Can I Rearrange The Timeline to Resemble The Timeline In Sony Vegas?

Ive been reading and searching and can't seem to find the answer. In Adobe Premiere CS5, can I have the timeline be so that every video is on top of its own audio like the way it is in Sony Vegas?

It just a matter of what you are used to.
I sometimes edit in Elements and it has the audio under each videotrack and I find it annoying....

I'm confused.

Unless you unlink and move one of them, the audio will always appear underneath it's corresponding video.

Actually, the Adobe way is the norm for NLEs.

Correct... but I can see certain advantages, in some situations, to having it the otherway as an OPTION.

Just like be able to relocate the Tracks by Dragging them around would be cool.

I just made the move from Windows to Mac and I used to use Sony Vegas. I heard about and read so many bad reviews of the latest version of Final Cut Pro that I decided to purchase Adobe Premiere. Im just not comfortable with its layout. If most NLEs treat video and audio like this then there must be good reason why its like that. Im just not getting it.

Work with it a bit and you will get used to it.

In a complex sequence( many video and audio tracks) it is far easier to have your Video Layers ( and audio tracks) together so you can directly see where they overlap or butt.

Video is generally butt edited and one does not want , unwanted gaps inthe timeline. It is very difficult to see a one, two frame gap or misalignment...if they are separated by Audio.

Yeah I know. I tried learning Vegas at version 7, at the urging of a friend who was using it due to cost reasons. The Vegas suite with Sound Forge, etc. was a whole lot less expensive than the Adobe Production Premium suite. But the layouts are soooo different, I just decided to stick with Premiere. Glad I did too.
I would encourage you to keep working with Premiere, I think it's worth the hassle of learning another way to think when editing. Especially when we are talking about using it as part of the Production Premium suite.
