In-camera sharpening vs sharpening in fcp?

What is you guys' opinions on setting my sharpening to -9 on my xh a1 and then sharpening in post in fcp vs. just using the in-cam sharpening? Will the A1's algorithms outperform fcp's? vice versa?

Why are you trying to sharpen later in post? Special effects look. I like a nice sharp image out of the camera then later you can do what ever you want in post. The highest quality image is what I shoot for... then if I need certain look I go that route.

Yeah- neither is really ideal. If your shots aren't looking sharp enough it's time maybe for a beefier camera with better lenses. Can't beat sharp optics and big chips for sharpness in camera.

actually, I don't necessarily want the image to be that sharp. I'm shooting a low budget feature and prefer the more filmic look to the ultra-sharp video look. I will most likely want to have some amount of sharpness though - I'm striving to achieve optimum quality in every aspect of the film though and therefore am interested in any information pertaining to the qualities of the A1's sharpening algorithms vs. those of fcp's and any other factors of using one system vs the other that I might be overlooking.
