in a pinch for a globe

Hey,

I'm getting tired of having to order bulbs everytime I bust one. Last time I ordered from rostronics.com, it took almost a month(or was it more?) to get my globes, and even then when they arrived I had recieved the wrong type. It's upsetting. Anyways, I was at the "local hardware store", we all know where that is, and came accross some 650w halogen bulbs that fit my britek lights. Are these ok to use? They are not as expensive and definitely a lot more accessable. So, just wondering if they would be just as good as the Osram globes that I usually get from rostronics.com. Appreciate the advice. Thanks.

Pull the number off the unit (The mount base number). Match it to your wattage and you have your lamps up and running. I have Briteks as well and get my bulbs at a local specialty lighting store for about $6 per instead of the price Rostronics charge.

Plus... no shipping and they're available in a pinch.

Yeah, it looks perfect and is the right wattage. So I assume it would work.

If you're looking for a cheaper, more reliable alternative, I recommend www.bulbconnection.com

They're cheap and I usually get my stuff in 2 days. I've ordered from them quite often and have never had a problem or a bad/wrong globe.

Hey Horse, thanks. I couldn't find a 650W double ended Osram globe or a 2k globe in the Osram section. What globes do you usually get horse?

I think I might have a slightly different style 650w Britek than you have. Mine takes a two-pin globe. I get all my stuff from them. Mole, Altman... for the most part, I don't have a problem finding what I need. I'll nose around when I get home this afternoon and see if I can find those. You wouldn't happen to have the 3-letter code for the globes you need, would you?

Hey thanks Horse. I don't have the number on me right now, but I did find some globes that will work with my lights. They were in the Arri section and have found globes for both my Britek lights and BandM 2k's which is good. Thanks again for the help.
