In a bind -- please help

Hey all,

Thank you in advance. Here's the rundown .... I shoot with a Canon T2i and have had great success with Prores LT as I don't do too much post processing. I've recently completed a new edit after having to do considerable color correction and thus I'm regretting LT this time around. The footage doesn't look bad but I need to know if it can look better.

I'm desperately trying to avoid re-transcoding ALL of the footage. Is it possible to just transcode the 5 minutes of footage for my timeline as opposed to the 90 minutes of total footage? I was tossing around the idea of reconnecting my timeline to the H.264 master files and media managing to HQ but I'm not sure it will work, given the filters, transitions, etc. Don't have much time to waste.

I'd greatly appreciate any tips. Thank you.

Why not try this.... Using your transcoding tool, say 5DtoRGB, transcode the same clip in 3 different favors of ProRes and apply the same color correction on each clip. That way you will know if the ProRes codecs or the original T2i clip is the limitation. It has been my experience that working with the T2i, it is best to get your look as close as you can to your desired look in camera. As even working in a high quality 10 bit codec, the original clips can't be pushed very far.

Good luck!
