It's kind of old news but I couldn't find any discussion about it going on in this forum, so I was wondering if everybody just missed it or if you simply don't find it of relevance?
I recently looked a little bit closer at the IMS mount offered by P+S Technik (http://www.pstechnik.de/en/optics-ims-red.php). It is basically a non standard PL mount with a very short back focus distance. This allows for mounting all sorts of lenses (different brands) with an adapter. I found a picture of different lenses with this "adapter" installed on reduser.net ---> http://homepage.mac.com/sanjinjukic/RED/IMS_CanonLeicaNikon.jpg
I thought that this is a fabulous idea because you could now use Nikon lenses, Contax lenses, Leica lenses, Pl mount lenses etc. on the same shoot easily. Furthermore, the "IMS PL" mount is a much more solid mount than most SLR type mounts. If you can get an "adapter" for each lens, you could leave them permanently attached to the lens and only use the IMS PL mount. It is as if you could convert all your lenses to PL mount (non standard PL mount).
I would be very excited to see a similar solution for DOF adapters (the IMS mount from P+S Technik is relatively expensive and I think they only offer the IMS mount for their own adapter).
What do you think about it? Would you be interested in such a mount?
