Improving System Performance

Hey guys,

I read in a couple of other forums that there are a few ways to improve performance (excluding upgrading hardware), they are:

- Dedicate your PC to editing only
- Update drivers
- Latest Updates from Adobe
- Disk Frag
- Multiple hard drives

Also, separating your scratch files will improve system performance. However, I'm not sure what exactly that entails. Below is my configuration, is it a good setup or can it be improved.

Three drives (7200) setup as Raid0

C:\ OS Windows xp
D:\ Premiere Pro CS3
E:\ Capture Files, Preview Files (both video & audio), Media Cache

If anybody else got tips to improve performance let us know!

Thanks,

Is there a problem with your performance?

Not sure why you would have OS and application on separate drives.

I would have separated Audio and Video to sep. HDDs

Never seen an A: drive before (apart from floppies) Usually C: is Boot drive with OS and Programs.

My performance slows down when I have a large time line or when I am working in 2k.

So OS and Applications should be on same drives?

I'll edit the post, its C:\ D:\ and E:\

Thanks

OS and Apps on same drive is kind of standard and that frees a drive up for media content ad scratch files (which is also standard - ie. spread the load around rfaster access)

2k will test any system.
