Improve your IMDB raking or not...

I put this under marketing... since it sorta is that...

Okay, I keep seeing small actors or filmmakers post this on Facebook... mainly actors...

Like my imdb page and I'll get more work... unless I missed something since I've moved to the boonies... sure I look at a person's page if they befriend me on Facebook... just to see what they've done... but its like this...we have distribution (separate deals for domestic and more than one for foreign) in place for a feature... they're telling us who they want for the lead roles and who they think is more bankable at the moment... and for the smaller roles our casting director will do her normal casting call or agents she knows will send in people that fit the character... not some ranking...

Seeing if others have heard something new that I haven't...

A friend of mine mentioned that sometimes in auditions she has been asked about her twitter following. I think it is a numbers thing. If there is nothing really different between 100s of actors to deliver the one line in a restaurant scene, why not go with the one who is more "popular" so there may be some slight boost to viewership or sales. I would do the same if I liked two actors equally as much.

People rely on all sorts of avenues to judge other people. I'd concentrate on imdb for sure, and choose a few of the other channels and stick to those only. There are so many, you have to be choosy.

How are you getting ranked on imdb at the moment? I mean, what process do you use?

Process as per actor... is that actor marketable... can't remember if it was Variety or the Reporter used to do a star ranking... sorta like A list... B list... C list and D... here is all I can say... under an NDA... but going with a few A list actors or again the buyer says who is marketable in these markets... we've probably get a few pre-sales on the film... day players... we hire a casting director for that... actually all our known actor roles our casting director submits the offer....

As per an unknown actor... I'd say it have to go more viral than the Veronica Mars Kickstarter thing... I asked a few people who are not in the industry and they never heard about it... so it have to be like the gangnam style video... but again would a studio put in a few mil for an over night fad... who knows make it cheap and it might work...

As per crew its usally word of mouth of people I've worked with...
