Improve HD workflow

[TM video]

Hi,
Working on a multi camera HD 1080i production. This is my first time really testing my computer's capability
as far as HD goes. it seems a little sluggish and I was wondering if there was anything I can do to work more efficiently . Here are my system specs.
Processor is intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 2.67ghz
6 gig of memory
64 bit operating system

With specs like that it sounds like you might be running into a Disk I/O limitation. Make sure you're using an internal drive, or one connected by eSATA or USB 3.0

Also black-magic makes a tool that tests your drive speed.

Get the Intensity Drivers for your platform and you can run the disk-speed test. If you have less than 25Megabytes per second read, your drive is too slow to support multiple streams of DVCProHD.

What is the format you're trying to read? You can figure out what the disk speed should be to stream it back in real time. Remember to calculate a few megabytes per second for overhead.
